About The Position

The Graphic Designer I position is responsible for creating visual designs for various platforms including print, digital, and web. The role involves using design tools to produce original designs that align with institutional branding and standards. The designer will also serve as a photographer, assist in event coordination, and integrate marketing initiatives into social media campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of typography, visual concepts, logos, and icon design for the internet and interactive platforms.
  • Experience working with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator or other creative tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and a customer service-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four years of any combination of relevant experience, education, and/or certification.
  • Ability to apply WCAG2.0 standards to graphics in print and digital media.
  • Awareness of current standards and trends in IT and emerging technology.

Responsibilities

  • Create online visual designs including typography, logos, and icons for print, digital, and web platforms.
  • Utilize design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and CANVA to produce original designs.
  • Incorporate UFIC and UF institutional branding, layout, color theory, and typography in designs.
  • Serve as a photographer and archive photo materials properly.
  • Assist with department-wide events coordination and support.
  • Integrate marketing initiatives and communication programs into social media campaigns in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Manage tasks of varying complexities and meet project deadlines.
  • Provide analytics support for web, digital, printed, and other media.
