About The Position

UNC Charlotte Dining Services is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to support marketing and brand execution across campus dining locations. This role is ideal for a proactive, growth-minded designer who wants real-world experience, fast-paced projects, and a strong portfolio coming out of it. This is not a passive role. You’ll be designing assets that students actually see, use, and engage with. This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing. Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods.  Business needs may vary from year to year.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Strong understanding of design fundamentals including typography, color, layout, and hierarchy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projects
  • Open to feedback and able to apply critique constructively
  • Willingness to support events when required

Nice To Haves

  • Photography experience
  • Experience designing for social media or digital platforms
  • Interest in branding, marketing, or creative strategy

Responsibilities

  • Design marketing and promotional materials including social media graphics, posters, menus, digital signage, stickers, banners, t-shirts, and event collateral
  • Support marketing campaigns from concept to execution
  • Assist with on-campus events as needed to help ensure branding is executed correctly (some evening or weekend work may be required)
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to maintain brand consistency across platforms
  • Incorporate feedback efficiently and apply revisions quickly
  • Organize and maintain creative assets and files
  • Occasionally assist with photography for events, food features, or marketing content (preferred skill)
