About The Position

The Grants Officer at Malala Fund will support Partnership Managers in managing and implementing all non-programmatic components of grants processing and administration for non-registered priority countries. This role involves overseeing the grant lifecycle, ensuring compliance, and maintaining data integrity within the grants management system. The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter with experience in grant administration, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in grantmaking and grants administration.
  • Experience interfacing with grants management systems or software.
  • Experience reviewing grant budgets and financial information.
  • Familiarity with IRS regulations for intermediary funders.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines under time pressure.
  • Experience with reviewing and analysing organisational audited financial statements.
  • Strong commitment to Malala Fund's mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grantmaking focused on advocacy or international education.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts organisational legal, financial and reputational diligence on prospective grantees.
  • Prepares grant agreements and amendments and coordinates their execution.
  • Prepares grant disbursement requests and ensures payments are processed.
  • Inputs and updates grantee data into grants management system; assures integrity of data.
  • Tracks actual and projected grant expenses against annual grantmaking budgets.
  • Project manages all grant-related processes for grant portfolios in non-registered priority countries.
  • Sends proposal invitations to prospective grantees and tracks submissions.
  • Reviews proposed grant budgets alongside Partnership Managers.
  • Oversees close-out process on all grant awards.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve grants-related processes.
