About The Position

The following examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed in positions allocated to this occupational class. No attempt is made to be exhaustive; related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. Research, identify develop and maintain grants for program funding and services. Submit grant proposals for Board approval. Research and write funding applications for Hinds County including the Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Services, Youth Court and other departments as applicable. Prepare grant applications for submittal and prepare quarterly or annual reports as required by granting agencies within the designated time frame. Develop professional relationships with private and federal agencies. Work effectively and efficiently with County Departments in a collaborative approach to expand the number and dollar award of grants. Maintain all records relative to grant administration. Assist departmental personnel in writing periodic reports to comply with grant requirements. Work with City Grant Writers on grant requirements that require memorandum of understandings, contracts, interlocal agreements and other requirements. Attend required grant report training classes. Provide board operational and administrative support to projects as needed; coordinating timely and comprehensive responses to county teams’ requests and needs. Maintain strong knowledge of project status, operations and working environment in order to proactively facilitate county project operations. Assists in developing policy recommendations. Evaluating current county programs and services for effectiveness and efficiency. Keep management informed about any financial, schedule and administrative issues. Supervises activities involved in conceiving, planning, directing and evaluating a wide variety of projects and programs. Recommends modification of existing policies, rules, regulations and procedures. Participates in administrative planning to insure maximum use of all possible resources. Supervises the collection, maintenance, reporting and publication of data regarding research and project activities. Provides management, technical, and other support to the County Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, or related field of study from a college or university and six (6) years’ experience.
