JOB SUMMARY: The Grants Manager plays a key role on Impact NW’s Development Team and works closely with staff across the organization to manage all aspects of grant writing and communications including managing the public and private grant writing process from research to submission and tracking, as well as supporting overall development team fundraising efforts as needed. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with persuasive and technical writing, donor relations, and external communications. The candidate will have creativity, flexibility, be a strategic thinker, and be able to work with diverse audiences. In addition, this individual will be a self-starter, have excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent project management skills, and a demonstrated passion for Impact NW’s mission.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience in grant management and demonstrated grant writing success with private and public funding sources.
  • Persuasive and technical writing and editing skills as represented in letters of interest, proposals, and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of funders, foundation staff, and internal staff.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Willingness to sign anti-racism statement.
  • Commitment to work as a team member with Impact NW's diverse community of donors, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent computer skills required, including the Microsoft Suite and donor databases.
  • THIS JOB ALSO REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting, and extensive visual involvement.
  • Ability to efficiently travel to perform duties and other agency related errands.
  • Moderate, occasional lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, develops and submits public and private grant proposals, sufficient to reach fundraising goals established by the Board and Development team.
  • Stewards effective donor relationships and complies with proposal report deadlines.
  • Utilizes the Raiser’s Edge database to monitor, track, and ensure timely and effective proposal and report submissions.
  • Works with Impact NW staff to highlight the successful work of the organization through written materials such as grant proposals and reports, publications, and e-communications.
  • Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with supporters and donors.
  • Works with the Development Director to produce strategic, persuasive, mission-aligned communication materials as needed.
  • Manages and implements additional development responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
