The Grants Manager at Minnesota State University, Moorhead (MSUM) is responsible for overseeing grant-funded programs, focusing on process improvement and financial management. This role involves managing a portfolio of sponsored projects, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor requirements, and providing guidance to staff and principal investigators. The Grants Manager plays a key role in the university's Grant and Sponsored Programs Office (GSPO), facilitating proposal development, award management, and financial analysis to support the successful execution of grant projects.

  • Lead grant projects in collaboration with faculty, staff, business partners, and external individuals/groups.
  • Provide authoritative advice and support in proposal development and submission.
  • Serve as a liaison between principal investigators, funding agencies, and university departments.
  • Complete required grant reporting and maintain effective communication with all interested parties.
  • Manage and monitor the budget position of grants and sponsored programs.
  • Provide project management guidance on grant performance and best practices.
  • Create comprehensive workplans to meet project goals and maximize productivity.
  • Stay informed of changing funding opportunities and compliance requirements.
  • Write, update, and maintain grant resources for principal investigators.
  • Develop the Grants and Sponsored Programs Office (GSPO) Annual Report.
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business, Education, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1 year of professional experience in proposal development, editorial work, and/or grants management in an education or nonprofit setting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and comprehend guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of basic budgetary accounting and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience managing small to large scale projects/programs/events.
  • Attention to detail, effective organization, and time management skills.
  • Human relations/interpersonal skills and successful experience with conflict management.
  • Project Management Certification (CAPM or PMP).
  • 2 years of professional experience in proposal development, editorial work, and/or grants management in an education or nonprofit setting.
  • Financial/budgetary experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal grant accounting, auditing, and reporting requirements.
