About The Position
The Grants Management Specialist position is located within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), specifically in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The primary mission of the DOJ is to uphold the rule of law, ensure public safety, and protect civil rights. The OJP aims to enhance public safety and improve the fair administration of justice across the United States through innovative leadership and programs. This role is critical in supporting the mission of the OJP by providing expertise in juvenile and criminal justice systems, ensuring effective implementation of programs, and managing complex grant processes. As a Grants Management Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert in juvenile and criminal justice systems, providing training and technical assistance to grantees to ensure the success of their programming. You will also be responsible for advising and guiding grantees through the grants management process, helping to resolve complex issues that may arise. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating applications for discretionary grants and agreements, which may involve multiple processes and require long-term administration and data collection across various sites. In addition to these responsibilities, you will conduct comprehensive on-site compliance audits of state juvenile justice systems. This involves reporting findings effectively and collaborating with states to address any identified issues. It is crucial that these audits are conducted objectively, consistently, and fairly, with clear articulation of findings, analyses, and recommendations. Your role will significantly impact the effectiveness of juvenile justice programs and the overall mission of the OJP.
