About The Position

The Grants Development Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting Nemours investigators by providing pre-award services for the development and submission of various research proposals. This position acts as a liaison among Principal Investigators (PIs), Grants Administration Specialists, and the Clinical Trials Business Office Manager, ensuring that all proposals meet the necessary guidelines and requirements. The specialist is responsible for managing a significant volume of proposals annually and serves as a subject matter expert for problem resolution related to grant submissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of one year of grant pre-award experience is required; three or more years preferred.
  • Experience in an academic or non-academic research healthcare organization is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CRA, CPRA, and/or CFRA are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Huron Research Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates proposal development assistance to Principal Investigators (PIs).
  • Establishes the electronic application option for all proposals and sets timelines for internal and external submission deadlines.
  • Meets regularly with Principal Investigators to provide personalized service and gather administrative components of proposals.
  • Assists in developing proposal budgets in line with budget justification and sponsor policies.
  • Coordinates cost-sharing approval documentation between PIs and institutional leadership as required.
  • Facilitates the transfer of required subrecipient proposal materials between prime and subrecipient participants.
  • Ensures proposals meet sponsor requirements and comply with federal regulations, including Uniform Guidance and FAR terms and conditions.
  • Consults with managerial staff on exceptions to institutional policy, including program matching commitments and administrative rates.
  • Generates and maintains a proposal file with all documents related to the preparation, development, and submission of applications.
  • Provides detailed documentation of assistance provided to PIs during the proposal development process.
  • Assists the Manager of Grants Development with preparation of internal research award budgets and other assignments as required.
  • Assists Grants Administration with updates of PI support documentation and requests for subrecipient participant documents.
  • Assembles final proposal documents, performs initial reviews, and hands off to the Grants Administration office for final processing.
