About The Position

Researches and identifies private and corporate foundation opportunities; assists in developing grant proposals and in managing the grants process to raise funds that will sustain and expand program and administrative needs; assembles all pertinent grant material packages for final submission; ensures overall accuracy and quality of all grant contract documents; keeps organized records of grant contracts and reports; works with the Grants Manager to coordinate the completion and submission of required follow-up reports; and helps update and maintain grants calendar. Key Responsibilities: Works with the Grants Manager to identify private grant opportunities that align with TSA funding priorities and programming needs. Research private and corporate foundation prospects for Salvation Army programs and initiatives. Helps match foundation prospects to Salvation Army programs, research giving history, and makes recommendations for asks, based upon funding interests and giving capacity. Stays abreast of philanthropic giving trends, especially regarding local (North Texas) foundation Assists the Grants Manager in maintaining and gathering required data to ensure compliance with grants Helps coordinate discussions with program staff to vet potential funding opportunities. Prepares talking points based on previous research and recommendations for direction of asks. Maintains current copies of grant application materials; helps maintain and update the grants master Assists in developing, writing, and editing proposals and reports. Works with the Grants Manager to build relationships with local private foundations on behalf of The Salvation Army. Attends prospective or current grantee interest meetings, seminars, and external community gatherings as assigned. Assists in additional fundraising projects as requested by the Grants Manager Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Helps coordinate discussions with program staff to vet potential funding opportunities. Works with the Grants Manager to build relationships with local private foundations on behalf of The Salvation Army. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, or an appropriate field, and
  • One to three years of related work experience in fundraising (previous experiencing assisting with grant proposals preferred) or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
