The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. The center is at work locally, nationally, and internationally with public and private partners to improve health and wellbeing. ABOUT THIS POSITION The grants and contracts officer is a member of the administrative team within GHPC. The GCO position directly supports the center’s strategic response to funding announcements and full scope of pre and post award activities. The GCO assists faculty and staff with the grant development and submission processes, acts as a liaison between GHPC and the Georgia State University Office of Sponsored Proposals and Awards and the University Research Services & Awards Office. Further the GCO supports contracting, budgeting, and documentation as well as regulatory compliance with federal, state and organizational funding requirements. This is an Atlanta-based position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of grants and contracts, administrative and budget activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and software, such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentations.
  • Ability to draft budgets for proposals, manage post-award budgets, renewals, and extensions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and verbal communication with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and budget forecasts.
  • Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and exhibit excellent customer service abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent working knowledge of grants and contracts, administrative and budget activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to draft budgets for proposals, manage post-award budgets, renewals, and extensions.
  • A Research Administrator Certificate.
  • Candidates must also have excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and submission of grant proposals and budgets in compliance with federal, state, local, and university guidelines.
  • Review agreements and initiate contract negotiations between faculty, staff, and sponsors.
  • Serve as the liaison between department heads, faculty, legal, the Office of Research, and the sponsor to ensure successful proposal submission.
  • Maintain the grant acquisition archives and records.
  • Meet regularly with principal investigators to review all active awards.
  • Manage the process of the daily flow of paper, electronic documents, and communication related to proposals and contracts.
  • Track all sponsored activities and maintain the proposal development database.
  • Perform initial in-depth reviews of the award documents and the notification of award.
  • Prepare grants and contract reports.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate unit business manager on post-award expenditures and documentation.
  • Other duties assigned as job necessitates.
