By joining the Office of Energy Policy as a Grants Administrator in Frankfort, you will have the opportunity to learn about Kentucky's energy landscape working with a small office administering several federal grants. An individual in this position will be dealing with various offices of the U.S. Department of Energy as well as many state and local organizations and non-profit entities around the state nation. Holders of the Grants Administrator position will complete tasks such as: Coordinates, prepares and submits federal grant applications and application revisions. Completes and submits required federal reporting through federal databases. Monitors and tracks federal expenditures and sub-recipient expenditures to ensure compliance with policy procedures and federal expenditure requirements. Analyzes expenditures and revenues to verify accuracy, reliability and compliance with approved budgets. Reviews travel requests and claims for the agency to ensure compliance with state and federal travel regulations and agency policies. Monitors compliance at grant partner locations for onsite compliance monitoring and site visits. Creates report of findings. Attends meetings, conferences and events related to federal grant activities and energy programs. Additional position information: Majority of time is sitting at a desk. Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of research or administrative experience.
  • Research, administrative, or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
  • Attention to detail and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a professional manner.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Works well individually and with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal grants is preferred but not necessary.
