Under the direction of the Planning Discipline Lead, you will lead the continued expansion and performance of Lochner’s Southern California Grant Writing and Management Practice. You will also work to implement changes locally, including strategies, programs, and other initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of diversified experience in leading the development of competitive grant applications.
  • Experience with applying for and/or managing transportation-related grants.
  • Experience managing multiple on-call contracts involving grant research and support, grant writing, and grant management services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop effective and trustworthy long-term relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on transportation planning efforts, including active transportation plans, roadway safety plans, and complete streets plans.
  • Technical education in urban planning, transportation planning/engineering, civil engineering, public administration, or similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continued expansion and performance of Lochner’s Southern California Grant Writing and Management Practice.
  • Responsible for business development and pursuing new opportunities within the context of an ambitious growth plan.
  • Develop the vision and support business plans to drive the region's growth in providing grant writing and management services to public agencies.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager on the development and implementation of local marketing and growth strategies.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and other business functions.
  • Support the development of practice-based action plans relating to grant writing and management services.
  • Ensure the profitability of the grant writing and management practice and its projects.
  • Measure and monitor budget and operational performance and communicate key metrics and information regularly to the leadership team.
  • Maintain client communication in coordination with other offices and Lochner Practices.
  • Oversee succession plans and support development of defined successor(s) across the team.
