About The Position

This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding. Reports to the Director of Upward Bound Del Valle at Texas State University. The Upward Bound Coordinator promotes educational achievement and the pursuit of post- secondary education enrollment for program participants. Responsible for the day-to-day management of all Project activities and required services. Assists the Project Director with supervising all Project staff and implementing all activities and services. Identifies, recruits, and serves a caseload of Participants. Provides academic, college, career, financial aid advising, and other individual technical assistance to Participants to promote high school graduation, college enrollment, and degree attainment. The Coordinator is also responsible for recruitment and monitoring progress toward the accomplishment of program objectives. Position located at target school in Del Valle, Texas with frequent travel to the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas. Evening and weekend work required.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
• Experience supervising part time staff
• Experience in planning educational and/or cultural trips
• 2 years experience with academic advising, college, and career preparation, and the college exploration/application process
• Experience facilitating students/parents through the college admission and financial aid process
• Bilingual (Spanish) speaking/writing
