About The Position

The Grant Assistant serves as an assistant to the Grants Coordinator for the Hendricks County Auditor's office. The primary responsibility is to monitor the reporting, accounting, and auditing functions of all grants for compliance with prescribed guidelines and to monitor all grant expenditures from the County budget. The position requires the ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations provided for qualified employees and applicants with known disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of three years bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in grant writing and administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of local government accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to make arithmetic calculations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Working knowledge of County grant preparation and monitoring procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret state and federal grant regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and officials.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of department information.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under time pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Grant Coordinator in monitoring all County grants to ensure compliance with granting agency requirements.
  • Track grant appropriations and monitor cash draws for proper amounts and timing.
  • Verify use of funds in accordance with prescribed laws and grant agreements.
  • Maintain official files of all grants received by the County.
  • Gather and prepare reliable data for report disclosure to granting agencies and other parties.
  • Assist grantee departments with close-out procedures for terminated grant programs.
  • Provide information and instruction to grantee department officials regarding granting agency requirements.
  • Assist grantee department officials in preparing annual budget requests.
  • Maintain records on all County grants.
