About The Position

Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County seeks a dedicated Grammar School Teacher (K–3rd Grade) to deliver high-quality, content-rich instruction within a classical education model. The teacher fosters a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, strong character, and a love of learning. This role emphasizes both academic excellence and character formation, guiding students toward the pursuit of the True, Good, and Beautiful. Teachers are expected to demonstrate subject mastery, maintain high expectations, and support the individual growth of each student.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or relevant subject area preferred
  • Minimum of 36 credit hours in the subject area may be considered
  • Colorado teaching license not required
  • Strong content knowledge and willingness to undergo classical education training

  • Ability to supervise both indoor and outdoor student activities

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with classical curriculum, including: Singapore Math Well-Ordered Language (3rd grade) Writing through the Institute for Excellence in Writing (3rd grade) Literature, poetry, history, and science following Hillsdale College's K–12 Program Guide
  • Utilize classical pedagogy to teach and mentor students
  • Build strong, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Communicate regularly (typically weekly) with parents regarding student progress
  • Assess student learning through assignments, grading, and testing cycles
  • Monitor progress and differentiate instruction for struggling and advanced learners
  • Collaborate with Student Services to support IEPs, 504s, and other learning plans
  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of student information
  • Participate in school operations such as attendance, arrival/dismissal, lunch, and recess supervision
  • Engage in professional development through ACADC and Hillsdale College
  • Model moral character aligned with the school's core virtues
  • Maintain consistent attendance and professionalism
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
