About The Position

The Grain Settlement Accountant processes receiving, settlement and payment of grain purchases as well as processing truck and rail shipments and settlements of grain sales. This individual will be responsible for daily and monthly grain reconciliation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or one to three months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of grain or Ag Tech, Agris and inventory software.

Responsibilities

  • Process contracts, settlements and payments for grain purchased by the company from grain vendors.
  • Process truck and rail shipments, settlements and payments for all grain purchases and sales.
  • Manages end-to-end accounting functions for assigned company locations, including freight payments, settlements, and reviewing inbound and outbound tickets.
  • Monitors A/P to support healthy cash flow.
  • Handles daily and monthly inventory reporting and reconciliations.
  • Analyze A/P and A/R freight reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Interact with vendors on the phone or in person.
  • Answer vendor questions regarding grain settlements and policies regarding docs, discounts, and storage rates.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and a friendly atmosphere.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
