About The Position

A Grain Originator is accountable for originating grain by calling on grain customers and prospects and promoting company grain programs and policies. Provide grain merchandising assistance as required and participate on the grain origination team. What You'll Do: Direct contact with customers and prospects in designated trade area Build customer contact list and establish contact pattern Submit weekly contact reports with documented volumes originated Identify potential key accounts/grain volumes by county and establish contact pattern Work with origination team to establish and update market share numbers Establish plan with measurable goals to increase market share in designated trade area Be part of the origination team to establish grain programs and policies Communicate grain programs and policies to grain customers and prospects Generate purchase and sales contracts with customers including credit sale contracts Understand and support compliance to state/federal grain licensing regulations Comply with accounting procedures as required to maintain accurate grain positions Be involved in providing support and insight to identify the best accounting practices Periodically provide newsletter articles or other information to customers and prospects through e-mails or other communication methods Be able to evaluate marketing alternatives and execute marketing plans with grain customers Understand company cash grain positions and basis positions and be able to evaluate these positions for marketing returns Understand cash and basis spreads to add value to market positions Communicate ideas for change that promote business growth and improve business efficiencies Note: This job description is not intended to be exhaustive. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in ag business or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
