About The Position

This position provides leadership at our Galena Park, TX export facility, which is currently undergoing major upgrades as part of The Andersons long-term lease and capacity expansion at Port Houston to expand export capacity, enhance reliability, and improve ship‑loading and storage capabilities. The Grain Operations Supervisor provides critical leadership by guiding control room operations and coordinating contractor teams to support these enhancements in a high‑volume export environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years’ large-scale grain and/or feed ingredient experience required
  • Experience working at a vessel or port location strongly preferred
  • Prior leadership experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress, fast-paced operating conditions
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset

  • Experience working at a vessel or port location strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations in the control room, rotating across two operational desks that support ship loading, rail receiving, and truck receiving
  • Manage vessel and rail activity, which account for the majority of facility volume
  • Oversee 40 to 50 plant personnel, primarily contractors, ensuring safe and efficient work practices
  • Conduct inspections, housekeeping reviews, and monthly operational checks to maintain a clean, compliant, and high‑functioning facility
  • Maintain and document operational activities through timely equipment upkeep and proper housekeeping
  • Lead facility safety programs including training, committee meetings, and incident investigations with a focus on root-cause analysis
  • Manage grain flow to optimize drying, aeration, blending, binning, and quality performance while providing daily inventory updates to leadership
  • Track grain shrink, gains, and losses resulting from aeration, drying, and mechanical movement
  • Support annual goal planning and assist in building both operating and capital budgets while monitoring performance throughout the year
  • Balance office and field responsibilities, maintaining readiness for variability in schedules due to vessel and rail arrivals
