About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Grain Operator/Scale Operator to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position will be working closely with customers and other employees to weigh incoming trucks and assisting with the grain elevator operations and ensuring all trucks are properly loaded and unloaded.

Requirements

  • Diploma/GED or 0-1 Year Related Experience or combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • English Proficiency.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for weighing trucks as they arrive at location.
  • Communicates the grain and grade to the grain attendants on each load.
  • Communicates and works closely with the Location Manager to ensure day-to-day grain activities run efficiently.
  • Provides a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interactions with our patrons.
  • Partners with Grain Accounting for accurate and efficient accounting of grain.
  • Contacts customers regularly informing them of dumping hours, potential dumping delays, and market opportunities.
  • Keeps grain room, scale area, scale, and grading equipment clean and in optimum working condition.
  • Executing processes and operating machinery and equipment as required, including loading and unloading trucks and railcars as well as other grain handling such as filling or reclaiming ground piles, transferring and blending.
  • Ability to operate bobcats, loaders and tractors.
  • Monitoring equipment, operating control systems, processing samples, and utilizing computer systems to input and record data as necessary.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations, requirements, policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations, the vehicle policy and fleet safety program, and DOT regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned
