A Grain Handler Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently handling, storing, and moving grain and related products within a grain facility. This role involves operating equipment, maintaining storage systems, and ensuring safety and quality standards compliance . The technician is key in facilitating grain processing, shipping, and receiving activities while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent or p revious experience in agriculture or a related field.
- Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Basic math and computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery.
- Ability to operate , maintain, and repair agricultural equipment safely and effectively.
- Certification in forklift or heavy machinery operation.
- The role involves physical labor, including the ability to lift and move heavy objects for loading and unloading.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions .
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and regulations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, during peak planting and harvesting seasons, and outside of normal hours throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and load grain using conveyors, augers, and elevators.
- Operate and maintain grain handling machinery, including dryers and storage systems.
- Conduct quality checks on grain for moisture, weight, and other specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper storage practices.
- Clean and maintain grain bins, pits, and work areas to meet safety and hygiene standards.
- Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Comply with all safety regulations, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate records of grain shipments, inventory, and operational activities.
- Provide Exceptional Customer Service.
