The Shift Manager is responsible for providing training, support and assistance to hourly team members. You will have a key role in maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace in compliance with Company policies and applicable regulations. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to: Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and procedures. Loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, drying, storage, aeration and fumigation of grain. Effectively assist with the supervision and management of personnel and operational activities. Assist with managing the business to plan according to pre-set objectives. Be familiar with all operations, systems, policies and procedures including, but not limited to: Weighing or measuring materials and products and using scales or other measuring instruments in order to verify specified tonnages Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants Observing conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges, in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions. Assist with preventative maintenance protocols and elevator operations. Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year plus experience working in grain handling facility or similar
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
  • Available to work overtime and weekends
  • Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
  • Able to pass a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or similar is preferred

Responsibilities
