About The Position

The Grain & Mill Operations Associate is responsible for supporting daily grain handling and feed mill activities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality operations by assisting with grain receiving, storage, and processing, as well as feed manufacturing and delivery preparation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Background in agriculture is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Proficient in using computers and basic software applications
  • Proactive with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Self-driven and motivated to succeed
  • Maintains a positive and can-do attitude
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk and be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, squat & kneel
  • Ability to go up and down stairs frequently
  • Capable to do repeated actions
  • Works well in a team environment and communicates effectively with coworkers

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to receive, unload, and store grain safely and efficiently
  • Monitor grain quality, including moisture, temperature, and condition checks
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of grain bins, mill equipment, and facility grounds
  • Receive and process customer feed orders using internal software system
  • Plan and prioritize feed mixing operations, taking into consideration biosecurity protocols, medication requirements, and customer specifications
  • Compute feed orders taking into account semi tonnage and customer delivery expectations
  • Operate the automated batching system to follow feed recipes accurately, ensuring correct ingredients and adherence to customer guidelines
  • Assign feed loads to semi-truck drivers for delivery
  • Keep accurate records of feed production, medications, and other relevant information
  • Collect and submit required samples and reports
  • Communicate effectively with the second-shift operator regarding completed tasks and any essential handoff information
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and PPE requirements
  • Keep accurate records of grain movement, feed production, and inventory
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Strictly follow and enforce all biosecurity procedures
  • Lift 50-pound bags of feed ingredients as needed
