Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) regarding certification of students from the College of Education & Human Development and the College of the Arts.
  • Conduct certification seminars with graduates and coordinate those with program coordinators.
  • Collect and review applications completed by graduates and submit their certification paperwork to the GaPSC to recommend them for certification and/or add-on endorsements.
  • Provide counseling, advice, and assistance for students toward their timely degree progression and certification completion.
  • Direct students to available campus resources for academic and professional success.
  • Maintain meticulous data records for each student, including program progression, mentor teacher matching, and recommendations, in the GaPSC TPMS record system and certification portal on the GaPSC website.
  • Write program approval letters for students seeking jobs in state (i.e., as a placement holder) and who are not yet certified.
  • Also, complete reciprocity verification of program completion for students who are seeking out-of-state employment.
