About The Position

The Graduate Program Coordinator provides administrative and program support for the department and serves as a welcoming first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role supports daily office operations and contributes to a positive, service-oriented environment through responsive communication, thoughtful coordination, and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and collaborative, with the ability to interact professionally and kindly with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and roles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more (2+) year’s experience in program administration or related field 
  • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education above and beyond what is required may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
  • Proven proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an overall comfort with technology, such as programs for communication and instruction
  • Knowledge of computers and ability to move from program to program easily 
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Must be able to deal professionally with students, faculty, and outside contacts
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision 
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, dependable, and able to take initiative on activities

Nice To Haves

  • Some college education preferred.
  • Four years of general clerical experience in an academic environment preferred, including some experience working directly with graduate students.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support in the administration of the daily operations of the department’s academic and administrative programs, including program operations, curriculum support, registration, student support, communications, and outreach.
  • Collects and compiles information, creates routine reports, and reviews documents for accuracy, completeness, and follow-up.
  • Assists in formulating alternative solutions and recommendations related to program and office operations.
  • Reviews departmental practices and procedures and recommends updates or changes as needed to support effective operations and service.
  • Assists in developing, revising, and implementing administrative procedures and office processes.
  • Represents the department, program, or assigned function through professional interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Provides administrative support to faculty and staff, including scheduling, correspondence, recordkeeping, and general office coordination.
  • May coordinate or direct staff tasks and assignments in support of daily operations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
