About The Position

The Graduate Physicial Therapist provides physical therapy treatment services under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. The new graduate PT shall make sound decisions in collaboration with the physical therapist and within the boundaries established by laws and regulations governing physical therapy practice. The new grad PT is responsible for carrying out the treatment plan and providing patient and family education as appropriate. The new grad PT will regularly communicate with the Physical Therapist on the progress of the patient and any changes in patient status.

Requirements

  • Current temporary Illinois Licensure to practice Physical Therapy or ATT letter (authorization to test) issued by Continental Testing, or the State of Illinois. Employee is able to practice under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist with co-signature until temp license expires, licensure is received, or notification of failure to pass licensure exam, whichever occurs first.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ongoing efforts to enhance clinical skills by combining education and clinical experience in the growth and development of new programs or services. Attends educational events and shares knowledge with others.
  • Participates in community and department activities that promote rehabilitation and wellness.
  • Meets the following productivity percentage on outpatient, Rehab, and Acute: less tan or equal to 79.99 (NI), 80-81.99 (ME), 82-83.99 (M&SE), greater than 84 (CE).
  • Communicates effectively (verbal and written) with patients, physicians, referral sources, family and other staff members, including documentation in the chart essential conversations with providers.
  • Implements appropriate treatment programs based on results of evaluation of physical therapy.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation that meets all compliance standards and contains personalized education information.
  • Safely operates any equipment involved in patient care.
  • Provides appropriate education for patients and families.
  • Serves as clinical instructor for PT students
  • Participates in departmental continuing education program and the department quality improvement program and ensures self and team compliance with dashboard a quality indicators.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement efforts, e.g. Journal Club, in-services, Magnet, chart auditing, etc.
  • Actively participates in designated marketing program (inpatient or outpatient).
  • Functions as a responsible team member.
