Graduate Nurse
About The Position
Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Graduate Nurse (GN) to join our inpatient clinical team. This role is ideal for recent nursing graduates who are awaiting RN licensure and want to gain supervised clinical experience in a supportive, patient-centered environment. The GN provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse while developing the skills and confidence needed for successful transition into professional nursing practice. This position is temporary and contingent upon passing the NCLEX-RN and obtaining West Virginia RN licensure within six (6) months of hire.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN
- BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong teamwork, organization, and attention to detail
- Basic computer proficiency; EMR experience preferred
- Must obtain RN licensure within six (6) months of hire
- Continued employment is contingent upon successful licensure

Responsibilities
- Provide supervised direct patient care including assessments, documentation, and basic clinical interventions
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes using the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Support development and implementation of nursing care plans
- Provide patient and family education as directed by an RN
- Monitor patients and promptly report changes to the supervising RN
- Administer medications and treatments under direct RN supervision
- Participate in IV therapy, vital signs monitoring, and other skills appropriate for training level
- Engage in shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and unit meetings
- Maintain a clean and safe environment following infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards
- Attend required in-services and educational sessions
- Actively prepare for NCLEX-RN and transition into the RN role
- Comply with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements
