The Graduate Nurse assures provision of care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement in collaboration with other health team members. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • GN permitted by the State of Texas
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
  • Behavioral/Non-Behavioral Restraint Training
  • Patient's Rights & Professional Conduct
  • Pavilion Specific Policy/Standards Review
  • For continued employment all licensed staff will be required to pass annual competency/return demonstration on high risk department specific policies /procedures and others as identified by department director/educator.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff physician, support agencies and others.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Ability to respond to pages.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
  • Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop.
  • Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Develops implements and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the Nursing Process, Clinical Skills and Patient Education.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees. The nurse will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The nurse will comply with appropriate and approved standards.
  • Utilizes the appropriate leadership skills in delegating and providing feedback concerning staff performance.
