The Graduate Nurse role is an orientation program with a maximum duration of forty-five (45) days. In this role, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, the Graduate Nurse initially performs less skilled clinical nursing practice and then progresses to independent performance of skilled nursing care procedures through performance evaluations. The position involves performing ongoing observations, assessments, and Nursing actions to identify patient needs utilizing sound professional judgment and Graduate Nurse-level expertise. Upon successful completion of the Michigan Registered Nurses Licensing Examination, the Graduate Nurse will automatically promote to the classification of General Duty Nurse.
