About The Position

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital is currently hiring for Full Time Nights in our Progressive Care Unit. This position is for a pre-licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who will actively participate in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of an RN, the nurse resident will provide care to patients within the scope of their role and professional standards, delivering age-appropriate care for assigned patients with a variety of medical conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or must obtain within 90 days.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX) within 3 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in nursing care activities for the population served.
  • Conducts patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age-appropriate needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive patient family education plan and provides health education and coaching.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation, including processing physician orders.
  • Monitors and evaluates nursing care delivery based on patient needs and professional judgement.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
  • Participates in training to understand and perform patient care.
  • Completes competency requirements satisfactorily.
  • Demonstrates professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
