About The Position
Kidney/liver transplant surgery and hepatobiliary performs a variety of procedures, including pancreas transplants. Our kidney disease program is consistently ranked among the best in the nation by U.S.News & World Report, with more than 250 kidney transplants performed each year. Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of nurses, physicians, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and spiritual caregivers who communicate daily to meet patient needs. Nurses are provided an extensive orientation specific to the care of our patients, including critical care training. At the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Transplant Center, our specialists have performed more than 1,700 liver transplants, helping restore patients’ liver function and health. In fact, Washington University surgeons completed the first successful liver transplant surgery in Missouri. Our extensive experience gives us a unique depth of expertise in providing expert treatment and compassionate care to patients who need a liver transplant. ADN and BSN candidates welcome to apply! Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patient's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
- Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
- Evaluates patient's response and modifies plan of care accordingly throughout the patient's stay.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
