In an orientation situation and under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, initially performs the less skilled work of clinical nursing practice and then progresses to independent performance of skilled nursing care procedures through performance evaluations. Performs ongoing observations, assessments, and Nursing actions to identify patient needs utilizing sound professional judgment and Graduate Nurse-level expertise. The Graduate Nurse role is organized and conducted as an orientation program with a maximum duration of forty-five (45) days. The Graduate Nurse will automatically promote to the classification of General Duty Nurse upon successful completion of the Michigan Registered Nurses Licensing Examination. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the direct supervision of a departmental/unit manager or designee who assigns areas of responsibility and reviews results for compliance with established standards.
