About The Position

The Graduate Landscape Designer works with a team of Landscape Architects, Designers and Planners to provide professional design services and solutions for clients in private and public sectors. The Project Landscape Designer will assist in theming and branding services as well as design of parks and trails, education, industrial, single-family, multi-family, mixed-use, streetscape, roundabout, and energy projects. Requirements

  • Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup
  • Excellent design skills
  • Complex problem solving
  • Effective verbal, graphic, and written communication/presentation skills
  • Microsoft office software
  • Work closely with other Planners, Designers, and RLAs
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, hydrologists, surveyors, and environmental scientists.
  • Demonstrate ability to take direction, and work both independently and/or in a team environment
  • Ability to think, design, prioritize, and problem solve using a holistic approach
  • Efficient use of time and focused attention to detail, to both meet deadlines within budget and complete tasks accurately
  • Ethical conduct
  • Self-motivated
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design or related degree.
  • 0-2 years of experience in the field of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Design
  • This position may require travel to project sites and other Westwood offices throughout the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards or desire to gain a license as a Registered Landscape Architect preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site inventory, analysis, and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare site constraint maps and base maps with CAD-based software.
  • Analyze regulatory review requirements and procedures.
  • Prepare functional diagrams, sketches, schematic designs, and concept plans for client review and approval.
  • Develop illustrative graphics, images, and visual presentations.
  • Prepare landscape, hardscape, grading, drainage, and tree preservation and mitigation plans.
  • Prepare construction documents, details, and specifications.
  • Attend site visits for both preliminary design stages and construction administration efforts.
  • Participate in project meetings with staff, clients, & regulatory agencies.
