General Information: The mission of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is to deliver a world-class education to a diverse array of communities and individuals throughout their academic and professional careers; to improve employability and develop workforces; and to contribute to building a civic-minded, well-informed, and globally aware society. SCS offers a wide range of degree programs and applied learning experiences to a broad and inclusive community of students and professionals. Summer and Special Programs is an interdependent unit within SCS, overseeing both Summer High School Sessions, comprised of over 3,000 high school students, and Summer Sessions, comprised of over 1,200 undergraduate, graduate, and visiting domestic and international students. These positions will work with both Summer High School Sessions and Summer Sessions. Summer High School Sessions are a chance for motivated students to take courses that interest them, taught by renowned Georgetown professors, who will challenge them to think like college students. Over one, two, three, or five weeks in Washington D.C., they will gain friends from all over the world and a new sense of independence to help them get ahead. Summer Sessions offers over 250 courses in a diverse range of subjects. Students are able to explore new interests or get ahead in their studies while spending the summer living and learning in Washington, D.C., on Georgetown’s historic hilltop campus. Summer Sessions also includes our Summer Honors Institutes, international students who join us from partner institutions abroad. Terms & Compensation: ● The Summer and Special Programs (SSP) Intern Positions are designated for the summer 2024 term, with dates of employment negotiable at the time of offer, within the range of late May 2026 – early August 2026. ● Work will comprise approximately 40 hours a week and will involve evening and weekend commitments, including Sundays. ● Employment with the University is at will and may be terminated by the SSP Interns or the University at any time without notice or cause. Employment with the University should not be considered as an implied or explicit guarantee of employment or as a personal contract. ● Failure to meet the standards and expectations of the University, the School of Continuing Studies, and Summer and Special Programs may result in termination. ● Compensation will include a private bedroom in an on-campus University apartment, a meal plan, $18.80 per hour for up to 40 hours of work per week, and membership to Yates Field House. ● The SSP Interns will have the opportunity to cater their internship experience to include personal interests and passion areas. There is flexibility with the below responsibilities to alter the experience to fit the needs and desires of the selected candidate.
