About The Position

This Summer 2024 internship opportunity is a 12-week commitment requiring onsite support in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The intern will work alongside the Corewell Health Strategy and Business Development team to address real-time business issues, develop skills, and gain valuable experiences. The team focuses on proactive growth through strategic planning, business development, and analytics, aiming to align organizational choices with its vision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in a university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in area of accountability
  • Preferred: Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's program in health administration, business administration, or similar
  • 1 year of professional working or internship experience
  • Strong business acumen, with some financial or statistical experience
  • Understanding of healthcare systems and system function

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with strategic planning processes

Responsibilities

  • Completes projects on behalf of the team, presenting findings to leadership
  • Sits in on department or project meetings
  • Assists strategy directors and/or advisors in developing strategic business plans, business cases, and qualitative research proposals
  • Produces key deliverables related to strategy and/or business development as determined by preceptor or key lead
  • Gains industry knowledge through shadowing, attending departmental and external meetings, and project involvement
  • Participates in team training and development opportunities
  • Develops leadership and presentation skills through relevant educational knowledge and internship experience
  • Performs qualitative and/or quantitative analysis
  • Contributes creative and unique perspectives and leads an area of focus over the course of the internship
  • Exercises organizational core values while driving work that aligns with the system strategic plan and vision
