About The Position

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Water Resource Planning and Condition Assessment position focused on stormwater planning and design, flood control, condition assessment of water assets, and water supply planning. We anticipate an increased demand for visionary integrated water resource planning and design solutions that support resilient communities and ecosystems. This represents a strategic business opportunity for Black & Veatch, and the Water Resources Engineer will help the company grow its market share across the country by providing world-class planning and water resource services.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Proficiency with working and collaborating in virtual environments (MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA/XP/PC-SWMM, InfoWorks.
  • Capable of conducting site reconnaissance and remote investigations.
  • Experience in working with regulatory agencies and their permitting functions.
  • Experience leading project tasks and executing water resource studies and implementation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic planning and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, stormwater detention/retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs.
  • Coastal resilience studies and implementation projects.
  • Condition assessment and in-field services of pipelines, dams, levees, reservoirs, and facilities.
  • Water supply planning that provides long-term resilient supplies and mitigates climate change, regulatory uncertainty, aging infrastructure, and population growth/demand changes.
  • Planning and design of green infrastructure, low impact development, and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
  • Erosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP development.
  • Collaborating with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of clients.
  • Technical elements of watershed, ecosystem, fluvial geomorphology, limnology, modeling, ecological restoration, and characterization of ecosystem service benefits/values.
  • Scenario planning implementation projects for integrated watershed management, nature-based solutions, resilience strategies, and surface water management programs projects locally, regionally, and across North America.
  • Climate change resilience planning and implementation efforts.
  • Mine tailing and effluent management projects.
  • MFL studies and mitigation projects for water bodies, streams, springs, and rivers throughout the region.
  • Pursuing strategic client opportunities and new services for existing clients.
