About The Position

As an Entry Level Structural (Transmission Line) Engineer at Black & Veatch within the EDGE Program, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world's most critical infrastructure challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients' goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch. Black & Veatch's EDGE Program is a multi-year rotational experience designed to accelerate early-career growth. Participants rotate through 3-4 roles across different business areas — including one field assignment — to gain a full view of the project lifecycle. It's a launchpad for future leaders looking to explore career paths, gain hands-on experience, and learn directly from senior mentors. With quarterly development sessions focused on leadership and innovation, you'll build a strong foundation for long-term success.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • All applicants must have work authorization and will not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa.

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Must have less than 2 years of professional engineering or construction experience (internships do not count toward years of experience).
  • Intermittent travel to project sites.
  • Short-term and long-term relocation to project sites and regional offices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Develops an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program.
  • Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
  • Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
  • Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Shares information with others as requested.
  • Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
  • Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
