About The Position

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests. The Graduate Education Policy Adjunct Professor position is considered an Online Adjunct Professor position with the Helms School of Government and is expected to instruct students in accordance with on the university standards of instruction and fulfill all administrative obligations. This position will be assigned an Instructional Mentor as director supervisor.

Requirements

  • PhD, Doctor (other than Juris Doctor), or similar terminal degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Political Science, Politics, Government, International Relations, Public Policy, Educational Leadership with focus in Policy, relevant Research Methodologies, or other related disciplines.
  • Publication record in relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level.
  • Appropriate mentoring and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills that facilitate the completion of assignments and tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all instructional activities in accordance with the university standards of instruction.
  • Teach from the material within the approved curriculum on schedule.
  • Provide timely feedback on assignments and replies to student correspondence.
  • Maintain and report student grades and attendance.
  • Inform HSOG of availability to be assigned courses in each subterm using the school's proscribed methods.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel and professional data in the university’s databases.
  • Conduct self-evaluations as part of the professional evaluation process.
  • Monitor the HSOG Communication Center and assigned Instructional Mentor’s channel.
  • Complete FERPA, Title IX, and all other assigned training on time.
  • Support Subject Matter Experts and Program Directors in curriculum development and conduct assessment activities as assigned.
