Who are we looking for? The US West Region is looking for a motivated Entry Level Civil Engineer - Highways & Roads to join our growing team in Concord, CA. We are seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer with the skills to assist in the delivery of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other enriching and vital improvements. This position will be based out of the Concord, CA office, but will be networked through our offices across the West Region with a focus on our offices in California. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. Product and Solution Development: Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products. Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards. Knowledge Management System: Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice. Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-2 year's experience
  • Possession of an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) Certificate
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway and transportation projects from preliminary to final design
  • Design tasks include geometric layouts, alignments, profiles, and typical cross-sections.
  • Assist in cost estimates, reports, and technical memos
  • Assist in transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies and general traffic engineering projects
  • Collect, compile and analyze data including traffic, highway, and crash histories
  • Assist in operational analysis for intersections, corridors, and interchange traffic
