This Graduate Assistant (GA) position supports the Office of Financial Affairs (OFA), a branch of the Associated Student Government (ASG) that awards student activity fee funding to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The GA reports to the Assistant Director for Student Government Leadership, who serves as the OFA Advisor. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with the ASG Treasurer in supporting OFA fiscal operations; meeting with RSOs requesting more than $1,000 from OFA for pre-event planning consultations; remaining familiar with OFA Standing Rules; attending weekly OFA board meetings held Thursdays 5:00-6:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semester; helping facilitate the interpretation of the standing rules for funding decisions, encouraging an impartial review of budgets, and clarifying procurement rules or processes. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position will develop UA Career-Ready skills such as Communication, Critical Thinking, and Professionalism.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
  • Available to attend OFA Board meetings, held Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semester
  • Ability to plan effective events
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic budgeting skills
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Sex Offender Registry

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with basic budgeting
  • Experience with event management, meeting coordination, and agenda development
  • Prior experience working with student leaders
