About The Position

The Graduate Assistant assists the hiring department with assigned projects. Performs other duties as needed. This student role supports peers by providing tutoring in writing and selected subject areas (algebra, anatomy and physiology, and statistics) while also offering holistic academic coaching. Tutors work with students to improve their mastery of course content, strengthen writing and communication skills, and develop effective study strategies. In this role, tutors foster a supportive and welcoming environment that empowers students to become confident, independent learners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Must be a current student at Loma Linda University.
• Able to read; write and speak with professional quality
• Use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
• Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
• Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
• Provide leadership
• Be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws
• Work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
• Lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate
• Accept direction
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone

Nice To Haves

• Completion of at least one quarter/semester of coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Strong performance in subject areas to be tutored.
