About The Position

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is an 1890 Land-Grant HBCU with a diverse student population, competitive degree offerings and stellar faculty. With the addition of the Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network (ARE-ON), students can engage in information exchange with others anywhere in the world. There are also Research and Extension offices in Lonoke, Newport and Lake Village and collaborations with other colleges and universities in the State through the National Science Foundation funded STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Academy. Requirements

  • A student majoring in Hospitality Tourism Management
  • strong academic record with a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • involved in campus-related activities
  • critical thinker
  • self-motivated
  • ability to work independently and with others
  • previous leadership roles in student organizations
  • excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • good writing and verbal communications skills
  • basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)

Responsibilities

  • assisting professors with administrative tasks
  • organizing campus events related to recruitment of new students
  • Conducting research tasks
  • Managing equipment and facility reservations (under the supervision of a faculty member)
  • Maintaining databases
  • assisting with student, faculty, and staff professional development
  • Provide tutoring or academic assistance to students
  • Attend training sessions or professional development workshops
  • Complete other duties as assigned
