About The Position

The Graduate Assistant for Student and Family Engagement supports the planning and execution of orientation and student engagement initiatives, with a primary focus on logistics, program coordination, and student leader development. Working closely with the Associate Director for Orientation and Leadership, this role contributes to the implementation of large-scale programs and daily operations. The Graduate Assistant also assists with outreach and engagement efforts, including creative programming and presentations, to enhance student involvement. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive department golf cart.

Responsibilities

  • Orientation Program Coordination and Student Leader Support Coordinate and execute assigned components of New Student Orientation, including timelines, logistics, room reservations, and event setup. Support on-site program execution, including troubleshooting and ensuring a high-quality student experience. Assist with O-Team recruitment, selection logistics, onboarding, and training processes.
  • Student Engagement Initiatives and Programming Design and implement engagement initiatives, including pop-up events and informal programming. Collaborate with team members on engagement strategies, including content planning and benchmarking peer institutions. Support programming efforts in collaboration with Campus Activities Board (CAB), including event planning and execution. Assist with vendor coordination, including outreach, communication, and basic negotiation.
  • Presentation and Facilitation Assist with and facilitate presentations, workshops, and classroom sessions related to orientation and student involvement. Represent Student and Family Engagement at outreach events, tabling initiatives, and classroom engagement efforts. Engage with students in both large and small group settings.
  • Marketing, Communications, and Outreach Maintain and update events and programs on CORQ/Engage, including accurate event details and attendance tracking. Support the development and execution of a content calendar in collaboration with the team. Manage departmental communications, including monitoring the shared mailbox, coordinating flyer submissions, and updating Sonic screens.
  • Assessment, Operations, and Administrative Support Track attendance and engagement data through CORQ/Engage and assist with maintaining program records. Support the maintenance of the Student and Family Engagement lobby as an active and welcoming student social hub. Assist with general office operations, event preparation, and administrative support as needed.
