About The Position

Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution which competes in the Gulf South Conference, is currently accepting applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant to the Track & Field/Cross Country teams. This position will be responsible for assisting the Head and Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches with sport specific coaching, travelling with the team, equipment inventory control, meet preparation, practices, strength & conditioning programs, and all other duties as assigned by the Head or Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coach. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, the Gulf South Conference, and the NCAA. In exchange for hours worked for the team, the successful candidate will be given free tuition for graduate courses subject to the Graduate Assistantship Guidelines of the University.

Requirements

• Guided by high morals and character that exemplify Christian beliefs
• Strong work ethic
• Excellent communication skills
• Resilience to a fluid work schedule
• Previous experience in high school or university Track & Field/Cross Country as a coach and/or player
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Admission to the Shorter University Online Graduate program

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Sports Management
