The College of Indigenous Studies is seeking graduate students to fulfill a research or teaching assistantship for the academic year 2025-2026. Assignments are on a per semester basis. This position is unique, as multiple campuses (Bristol Bay Campus, Chukchi Campus, Kuskokwim Campus, Northwest Campus) may be hiring when graduate teaching/research assistants are needed to work on sponsored projects or classroom support. The position may be part-time or full-time. Incumbents will join faculty and researchers actively conducting research in various disciplines. This may include working on one or more funded projects in these research areas under the guidance of Principal Investigators. To thrive in this role, the applicant should possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and customers. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining accuracy in tasks such as data entry or inventory management. Additionally, a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment will ensure success in meeting deadlines and achieving team goals. Have an understanding of how learning//creative processes work. Possess knowledge and experience working with rural Alaska Native communities and cultures, and demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of individuals in various work settings. Good writing and editing skills. Good organizational skills. Good communication skills. Familiarity with Blackboard, Google Docs, and the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
