About The Position

The Graduate Assistant, Research position, under general supervision, will assist the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center with all activities associated with the NIFA-funded research project in the greenhouse, field, and farm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Prairie View A&M University. (Minimum of 9 credit hours during the regular fall and spring semesters and 6 semester credit hours for the summer semester).
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Must have basic knowledge of plants, greenhouse, and farm operations.
  • Must be proficient in operating light equipment such as lawnmower, tiller, and weed eaters.
  • Must be willing to work with plants in the field.
  • Must have a strong background in Chemistry and some knowledge of bioinformatics software.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in preparing soil plots to include watering, weeding, transplanting, and assisting with laboratory and bioinformatics work.
  • Assisting in working extensively in greenhouse and field with grafting cucumbers, to include germination, transplanting seedlings, pasture and crop maintenance, harvesting, etc.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
