About The Position

OUR UNIVERSITY Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas. Ottawa University is a regionally accredited, church-related, private university that strives to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students. JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing Level 0 technical support to all members of Ottawa University and Level 1 technical support for the members of the designated campus location. This position will also assist and attend IT team meetings for observational and educational purposes.

Requirements

  • An individual must first be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program to be eligible for appointment as a Graduate Assistant. Admission requirements are as follows:

  • Submission of official undergraduate transcripts (3.0 GPA - minimum requirement) earned bachelor's degree.
  • Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references.
  • Other items as identified by the specific academic program
  • A completed employment application is required.
  • Candidates should attach cover letter and resume.
  • All Graduate Assistants must be eligible to work in the United States and present the proper documentation to the Human Resources Department prior to beginning their graduate assistantship.

Responsibilities

  • Level 0 support (Remote and Telephonic) for all users at the University level. Including, staff, faculty and students.
  • Level 1 support (in-person) for all users at the GA's designated location.
  • Escalate tickets to appropriate technology groups.
  • Aid in troubleshooting technical and operational issues with other full-time members of the information technology staff.
  • Create new faculty and staff accounts.
  • Change account details on existing employees.
  • Observe existing documentation.
  • Work with the user services team to modify existing documentation.
  • Work with the user services team to create new documentation.
  • Successfully identify technical issues that potentially impact multiple systems based on ticket metrics. Perform daily checks of classroom technology and video conferencing equipment.
  • Understand and maintain equipment needs for the designated campus location.
  • Support live events regarding audio/visual equipment, as needed.
  • Maintain, support, and inventory all equipment for the designated campus location.
  • Understand the University's policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly. Provide leadership with whom you work through your conduct, attitude and professionalism. Represent the information technology organization and the University to faculty, staff, students and external vendors in a way that reflects well on the University.

  • The selected candidates will be granted tuition waiver (18 credit hours per year) for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance and a bi-weekly living stipend paid over 12 months. Renewals for a second year are based on the evidence of academic performance and quality execution of assigned duties.
