About The Position

The Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs is a position in the Division of Student Affairs working directly with the Director of Career Services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support for Career Services operations, including managing Handshake data, reviewing job and event postings, and supporting student and alumni appointments and check-ins as outlined in the department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Assist in career readiness programming, such as Leo Great workshops, resume reviews, mock interviews, and tabling events.
  • Engage in marketing and logistical support for initiatives such as the Career Services podcast, career fairs, and classroom presentations.
  • Create and schedule social media content aligned with Career Services’ goals, using platforms like Instagram and Canva, and adhering to Saint Leo brand guidelines and applicable content approval processes.
  • Support the Division of Student Affairs, with moderate focus on Career Services and Accessibility Services. Responsibilities may include assisting with alternate text formatting, contributing to inclusive and student-facing programming, and aiding with digital engagement.
  • Additionally, provide operational support to the Stephen Herrmann Mail Center, including parcel sorting, departmental deliveries, and tracking via systems such as WTS/Quadient and Parcel Pending.
  • Assist students in identifying and connecting with relevant campus resources and support services.
  • Participate in data reporting activities, including analytics for Handshake engagement, student service usage, and inventory tracking for Career Closet and Mail Center initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison, as assigned, during special events and peak seasons, collaborating with Accessibility Services, Mail Center staff, and the broader Student Affairs team to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Provide responsive, professional customer service in person, by phone, and via email to students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain accurate internal documentation, update SOPs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of student services.
  • Represent Career Services and Student Affairs at university-wide events, orientations, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Assist with the execution of Student Affairs events, including physical setup and breakdown (e.g., lifting tables and chairs), and contributing to the creative development of associated social media campaigns—this may involve generating content, pitching ideas, drafting proposals, and supporting campaign implementation.
  • Conduct cold calls to students for Student Affairs event promotion or engagement initiatives, and assist with outreach to employer partners—including cold calls, follow-ups, and scheduling—as directed by the Director of Career Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Career Services in alignment with the strategic goals of the department and the division.
