About The Position

Ashland University seeks a graduate assistant to serve as the men’s and women’s assistant tennis coach. This position will report to the head tennis coach and the Director of Athletics. Ashland University is a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference ( GMAC ). The university is located midway between Cleveland and Columbus off of Interstate 71. Ashland University offers 24 varsity sports and features over 750 student-athletes. This position will assist in coaching student-athletes on a daily basis. This will include one-on-one instruction and coaching in a group setting. The assistant tennis coach will help the head tennis coach in coaching during practices and matches. This position will help in match set-up and match administration. This position will be involved in recruiting potential student-athletes and help the tennis program reach its roster goal. This will include contacting potential student-athletes by phone and email, conducting campus tours and evaluating the playing ability of potential student-athletes. This position will also be involved in making team travel plans, helping to monitor academic progress of team members and in helping to promote the tennis program in a variety of ways, including camps and clinics. The assistant tennis coach will have regular involvement with the athletic training staff, the athletics communication staff, the strength and conditioning coaches, the SWA /Assistant Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Assistant Athletic Director for Game Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university is required
  • Acceptance into Ashland University’s graduate program is required
  • Candidates should have previous experience playing or coaching tennis on the college level
  • This position requires the ability to work well in one-on-one and small group settings
  • The ability to work evenings and weekends is required
