The Graduate Admissions Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the graduate admissions process at LSU, serving as a key point of contact for students, faculty, and the campus community. This position is responsible for managing admissions processing, determining graduate admission requirements, evaluating transfer credits, and assessing residency for students enrolling in graduate programs. The officer will also support recruiting activities, ensuring a smooth and efficient admissions experience for prospective students. In this role, the officer will determine the admissibility and transferability of credits for both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students. They will act as a liaison between prospective students and academic departments, tracking applicants through the admissions process and collaborating with various university constituents to ensure that all application files are complete. The officer will also coordinate the application waiver and refund process, ensuring adherence to university policies regarding conduct codes, transcripts, and required admission documentation. The Graduate Admissions Officer will perform credential evaluations for both international and domestic applicants, entering student data and admission decisions into the appropriate systems. They will meet with prospective students to explain the graduate education process, guiding them through admissions and enrollment while directing them to other relevant offices or departments on campus. Additionally, the officer will produce reports as requested and oversee the resolution of any applicant challenges regarding the admissions process. This position also involves facilitating informational workshops and orientation sessions for campus employees, assisting in the design of content and materials for these sessions, and representing the office at various events as determined by the supervisor. The officer will participate in cross-training with other Graduate School personnel and assist in identifying areas for process improvement, contributing to special projects as needed.
