About The Position

The Graduate Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and maintaining a positive relationship with graduate applicants (both domestic and international) at all levels and during all phases of the recruiting and application process. This position serves as the primary contact for all graduate inquiries and applicants and engages in comprehensive recruiting and conversion work. This individual is also responsible for working within the university environment to facilitate enrollment and effective working relations among schools/departments as assigned. This position is In-Person.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in any field is required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Workday, and Colleague.
  • Must be able to articulate clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-cultural communication skills, and a good listener.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a track record for sustained measurement of program outcomes.
  • Must be able to work independently, and with and through others to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities

  • Work toward and achieve the college/school/program’s enrollment goals by participating in recruitment activities.
  • Provide information to prospective students regarding graduate programs, admission requirements, and required documents.
  • Prepare presentations for prospective and accepted student audiences both small and large, as required.
  • Coordinate and participate in on-campus events for prospects, accepted students, and special interest groups, as required.
  • Travel where designated to represent the University and support recruiting efforts.
  • Conduct various mail, text, phone, and email recruiting campaigns to generate inquiries and applications.
  • Respond to all inquiries received via phone, text, email, and/or mail.
  • Conduct information sessions and attend college fairs and other events.
  • Counsel prospective students to encourage campus visits and application submission.
  • Manage campus visits and scheduling of prospective students, including meeting with faculty.
  • Represent the Barry University brand and serve as a content expert for prospective students.
  • Execute additional tactics that support strategies established by the Deans and AVP to attract, recruit, and enroll qualified students.
  • Assist the Senior Director in assessing prior recruitment travel results and developing subsequent recruitment travel.
  • Facilitate timely and appropriate information delivery to move students through the various stages from inquiry to applicants.
  • Create and conduct follow-up via phone, live chat, web, text, and other methods of communication with prospects and applicants.
  • Explain admission requirements for specific programs such as standardized test requirements, test waivers, essays, format for recommendation letters, transcript requirements, scholarships, discounts, and resources available to assist prospective students.
  • Advise and guide prospective students throughout the application and decision-making process.
  • Promote prospect/applicant engagement with peers, faculty, and staff including department liaisons and academic advisors.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in describing the university’s financial aid opportunities and awarding policies.
  • Document all contact with applicants in Salesforce, the university’s customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly activities utilizing CRM and Colleague systems.
  • Conduct regular assessments of interactions with prospective students and make recommendations for needed updates of information.
  • Maintain effective communications with the departments of Financial Aid, Graduate Admissions and with the various academic programs/schools.
  • Assist with the onboarding and registration process by instructing students on the steps toward advising and registration.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate and possess a strong understanding of cultural competency.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of student, staff, and university information.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements to improve workflow.
  • Evaluate the readiness of the applicant’s file upon receipt of each new credential.
  • Collect, synthesize, and analyze data for recruitment activities.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on recruitment activities.
  • Provide support with monthly assessments of objectives and goals report.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.
